Give cars access to allotments while Commonwealth Games take place
Walsall Road Allotments in Birmingham are next to the Alexander Stadium where the 2022 Commonwealth Games will take place this summer.
Access to the allotments by car is being denied while the Games take place.
6 formerly feral or stray cats live at the allotments. They are fed twice a day and receive veterinary care when necessary.
If they become ill while the Games are taking place it will not be possible to take them to a vet without a car. The nearest vet is about three miles away.
In addition to the problem with the cats, the Games are taking place at the height of summer. Crops will need to be picked and watered.
Many plot holders rely on their car for transport to the allotments either because they live too far away to walk, or they have a disability.
We are asking for passes to be issued to plot-holders enabling them to go to the allotments by car.
