Give Arts Students at Georgetown District High School an Official Arts Banquet

Give Arts Students at Georgetown District High School an Official Arts Banquet
The Issue
Every year, at Georgetown District High School, it is tradition to hold an Arts Banquet. This is an after-school dinner in the theatre; with an awards ceremony, music, and games. Each Arts Banquet is an opportunity to dress up and appreciate one another, for both the talents that they have displayed throughout the year, and the friendships that have been formed through the art programs at the school. Invitations to the arts banquet were extended to those who participated in school productions, dance teams, any of the school bands, tech crew for arts events, the drama club, and the art club.
This year, it was announced that formal recognition would not happen, and instead, there will be a lunchtime celebration at noon on Thursday June 13th. However, this poses a challenge as it takes place on valuable class time, and some students or their parents may feel uneasy about them leaving class this close to the exams to attend the lunch. A dinner event, however, is an excellent way to change the pace of a hectic time in the year, all while maintaining the academic schedule.
Students, and parents are encouraged to sign this petition to show that there is interest in an arts banquet this year.
