“Give a F—k About Your Local Buck!” Prevent Deer Population Control

The Issue

The deer population has been growing exponentially in the past couple of years. Lots of people have begun to complain about the deer fecal matter in their yards, deer lounging about on yards and “posing a threat” to themselves and their animals by way of Lyme disease, and various other baseless claims and concerns have been tossed about, particularly on the social media networking site known as “Nextdoor.”

I am here to inform the public that the greatest threat to safety is death.

Many have advocated openly for “skilled bow hunters” to come in and control the local deer population by putting an end to their lives cruelly. We have enough bad people living in our neighborhoods, we don’t need the extra negative juju that would be brought to our neighborhoods by ending those deer’s lives so violently, creating negative karma all around us.

Animals have very few rights to begin with in this country. They are treated with disrespect, slaughtered brutally, and treated as disposable. We have had enough of this animal cruelty and would rather not inflict it on deer trying to enjoy their lives and EXIST. It’s a fundamental right and we as humans play god too much as is. Everything deserves the right to have a chance in life.

Many cite health concerns regarding Lyme Disease and other deer-related illnesses. However, if you peel back your eyelids just the slightest bit, you will realize that deer would face an even bigger health concern, which is slaughter. If you had a 3 year old with whooping cough and the disease quickly spread across the 3 year old population, would your solution be to “handle the population” with mass slaughter? we need to handle the deer like we handle our little ones: with kindness, compassion, and rationality.

Leave the deer alone. It’s a good sign that their population is thriving, and quite frankly, I enjoy watching them rest in my back yard. GIVE A F—K ABOUT YOUR LOCAL BUCK! Prevent slaughter in our neighborhoods and cruel “population control” methods by signing this petition. Together, we can rally behind these deer and show them they’re welcome in the community.
