There’s more and more talk in DC about another stimulus package — and it’s my goal that our 1 million+ voices calling for monthly checks until the economic crisis is over are heard in the halls of Congress. As you know, my husband and I own a restaurant in Denver and right now this means our future is unknown. We are all trying to find our footing and planning feels futile but desperately needed. I know we are not alone, whether it is hospitality, hairdressers, massage therapists… what is our future?  

We know that for our family, our team, our guests, and our community it is essential that we get help to navigate this economic crisis.

Last week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that a “minimum guaranteed income” should be considered, and House Leader Steny Hoyer named “monthly cash assistance” a priority. 

What this means is that our voices are having an impact. 

The petition you already signed was the first step. Now, we need you to contact your Senators and Representative in Congress to let them know that the next bill they pass, called “CARES-2,” MUST INCLUDE MONTHLY PAYMENTS OF $2,000, until the economy recovers. 

People are hurting and our economy is in a tailspin. I know we need money for so much right now but putting money in people’s wallets is essential…regular direct payments to the people would do the most good for the most people in these uncertain times.

Republicans, Democrats, and Independents agree, we need Congress to send each one of us $2,000 a month until this crisis is over.
