Save Camps Pokanoka and River Trails

Save Camps Pokanoka and River Trails
The Issue
Girl Scouts GCNWI just announced that as part of their Master Property Plan, they are planning to sell 2 of our beloved camps - Camp River Trails and Camp Pokanoka. Council plans to retain 4 camps, but we have a large geographical footprint, making many of the camps inaccessible for a weekend camping trip. The 4 remaining camps will be overwhelmed with very popular summer resident camps and day camps and would be likely unavailable to Troops and Service Units for camping. The Girl Scout program was founded on the basis that getting girls outside and teaching them outdoor skills will make them more confident, stronger, and equipped to Make the World a Better Place. With the rise of technology, the opportunity to get girls outdoors is now more important than ever. We cannot let this precious land be taken away from our girls and from future generations! Once these resources and the memories and experiences that go with them are lost, we will never be able to get them back at any cost. We are planning to ask Council for a list of necessary repairs and updates to these 2 camps, and networking to get them completed - where there's a will, there's a way! These properties are essential to our girls, please help us fight to keep them!
