Girl Scouts: Ditch the Plastic!
The Issue
Junior Troop 45857 is working towards Bronze and urging Girl Scouts to ditch single-use plastic packaging for more eco-friendly options such as NO packaging, bamboo, or biodegradable. Currently, all official badges and insignia are sealed into single-use plastic bags. These plastic bags go into the landfill, blow into the oceans or into nature. Of the ~5 trillion plastic bags are used around the world each year, only about 1-3% are recycled. As Girl Scouts, we should be leading the way in breaking free from single use plastic and helping our Mother Earth!!
