Pass Hawaii Campaign Finance Reform Resolution petitioning for Constitutional Convention

The Issue

In 2015 the Hawaii State House passed with nearly unanimous support House Concurrent Resolution 53 which if the Senate had also passed it would have petitioned the United States Congress for an Article V Constitutional Convention to ammend the US Constitution to publicly finance elections and overturn Citizens United. The Resolution died in the State Senate Judiciary and Labor Committee. Several other measures have died upon reaching this committee chaired by Senator Gilbert Keith-Agaran.

In 2016 Hawaii Senate Concurrent Resolution 40 passed the first committee with nearly identical wording to HCR 53 (2015) and Chair Keith-Agaran refuses to hear it.

We are petitioning Hawaii State Senator Gilbert Keith-Agaran to hear SCR 40. We are petitioning his colleagues in the State Senate and House as well as Governor Ige to support the measure. We are petitioning Governor Ige to call a special session of the Legislature if the resolution doesn't pass by the end of the regular legislative session.
