The Granada Hills Charter High School current dress code is extremely outdated, sexist, sizeist, and follows oppressive misogynistic ideas that push limits on ones true expression. We hope to impose this reform for all gender identities and create a new set of rules that are gender neutral. 

GHC's reasoning for the dress code is as follows:

a. Cause actual distraction from or disturbance in any school activity or actually interfere with the
participation of a student in any school activity.
b. Create a hazard to the safety of himself/herself or others.
c. Create a health hazard.

With the new dress code reform, we promise to ACTUALLY abide by these rules. Please understand if you would like to dress "modest" that is your choice. If you choose to express yourself and feel best by showing more skin that is your choice. NO ONE regardless of age should have the power to regulate your expression at this school as we are not part of a religious setting. 

The final reform is in the construction process right now but our goals are the following:

• Tube tops / halter tops / spaghetti straps would be allowed.
• exposed midriff / natural cleavage / exposed bras or bralettes would be allowed.
• the fingertip rule will be changed to two inches below crotch seam.
• wave caps are allowed only as a protective style.
• ANY hats and hoods allowed only outside.
• ANY stretch pants (except sheer) allowed.

These ideas are obviously not the final reform. These are only our goals. They are subject to change in wording but not ideas. 

School is a place to learn. About yourself and your future. That is what Granada claims. Let's make it that way. Vote on this petition.
