Stop e-levy now

The Issue

Ghana government assumes that Ghanaians do not change their minds easily and as a result bent on pushing e-levy. However, e-levy will return Ghanaians to cash economy, hence eroding all the benefits choked so far with cash-lite economy touted by NPP government. But the government still sounding reasonably confident about the 1.75 (now 1.5) per cent E-Levy inflicted on its citizens without considering the long-term scarring – claiming “there is no alternative” to balance the public purse. The e-levy will not only  impoverish Ghanaian, it will put consumer spending in retreat and force majority of private sector workers into further unemployment. Auditor-General report reveals that Ghs12 billion cannot be accounted. So, why will government not chase the Ghs12 billion, but interested in taking Ghs6.9 billion from citizens' pocket/wallet?
