The ROC Band has been a long standing tradition at BYU. Their energy, passion, and musicianship change the atmosphere of games in a way that gets fans loud and excited to cheer on their Cougars!

BYU Athletics has decided to CUT the ROC Band from Men’s Basketball Games this season! This is not the route BYU (or ANY school) should ever go! Is the marching band next to be cut? The cheerleaders? The Cougarettes? Is the band not worth the unsold seats they take up? Is a season ticket alumnus’s money more important than a current student who is giving their time to SUPPORT BYU Athletics? Is a 29 person band too expensive in an arena of 17,978 seats? What does this show students about the priorities of BYU Athletics? What does this show local K-12 band students about what BYU Athletics thinks of musicians?

We want the band back!! The game is not the same without them! “Let’s Go Cougars,” “Sweet Caroline,” and The Fight Song energize the arena and unite the fans! The students work hard to be there and deserve a chance to cheer on the Cougars right alongside the student section and cheerleaders! There should be MORE opportunities for musicians of BYU to play on campus—not LESS! Not to mention the band director has given his heart and soul to this band!
