Get the Brea Olinda High School Tennis Courts Fixed
The Issue
The tennis team of BOHS (Brea Olinda High School) does not have courts on the campus of BOHS that are safe to play on. These courts have been damaged and unplayable for many years. Players and family members of the tennis team are inconvenienced everyday, having to drive to tennis courts that are further away from their residence during the nighttime just to have practice. Other teams that participate in competitive games against the BOHS tennis team are also inconvenienced, as they have to play their away games into the night, some lasting well past 9 PM on weeknights.
If we do not make a move to change, players will continue to be inconvenienced everyday. Not only are parents affected by the strange and irregular drop-off schedules, but students' schoolwork is also affected. Our studying habits are affected by the constant switching of day games (2-6 PM) to night practices/games. (6-8/9 PM) There is also many communication issues with the school of the courts we currently share with. Often the gates to the courts are not unlocked when we need to use them, or the lights shut off during the night when it is dark, and we can't see. We also have to delay the start of our matches, as the courts are usually occupied. As nice as it is to at least have courts to use, it is not an ideal situation and causes many conflicts among our team and theirs.
Over 50 hardworking students are a part of the BOHS girls/boys tennis team. Please help us take a stand. We need to have our tennis courts repaired for our personal and academic success, and for future generations of Brea tennis players. If these courts are not repaired, we will continue to feel the strain of transportation, the stress of not having courts available to play on, and ultimately, the loss of our pride as a school who will not have their own tennis courts, for their own tennis team.
