Dear neighbors,

Did you know that our small block of Gilbert Street off Brannan is one of the 5% of SF streets that doesn’t get mechanical street sweeping by the city? We want to change that and need your help! We would like to submit a petition to the San Francisco DPW's Bureau of Street Environmental Service (BSES) to add Gilbert Street to the street sweeping schedule. BSES indicated that the majority of residents (including owners, renters, and businesses) on our street need to sign the petition to get once-a-week street sweeping.

Besides trash, street sweeping picks up and cleans away chemicals and toxins, animal poop and pee, and other harmful debris. The roads get a scrub, and this debris doesn’t find its way into the drainage system and the beautiful SF Bay and Pacific Ocean!

For a cleaner Gilbert Street and safer environment, please sign this petition. We are asking for all responses no later than Sunday, October 17.

We, the undersigned, call on The Bureau of Street Environmental Services to regularly, mechanically sweep with truck-mounted sweeper the following street(s):

NAME OF STREET TO BE SWEPT: GILBERT STREET

FROM (STREET): BRANNAN TO (STREET): END OF GILBERT STREET

We understand that “No Parking / Street Cleaning” signs would be installed stating a parking restriction to allow access for the sweeper. Department of Parking & Traffic would enforce restrictions by issuing citations. BSES is looking for a strong majority (2/3rds) of residents and businesses to be affected by street sweeping service to sign the petition with address and contact information. BSES has the final decision on approval of petitioned request pending various factors.
