Spider-Man: No Way Home debuted in December of last year and was a resounding success on all fronts. Not only was he able to raise millions of dollars in Mexico and the world, but he also did the impossible by fulfilling almost all the expectations of the fans. During a chat with the portal Sunday Times (via People.com), actor Samuel L. Jackson defended superhero films and stated that the Academy should create a category to reward the public’s favorite films and those that knew how to conquer the box office. Unsurprisingly, he used Spider-Man: No Way Home to exemplify his point.
“They should have an Oscar for most popular movie. Because that’s what business is about. [Spider-Man: No Way Home] He did what movies have always done: take people into a big dark room.” Pulp Fiction.

Finally, Samuel L. Jackson insinuated that cinema is for all kinds of tastes, so a popular film should not be underestimated. “All movies are valid. Some people go to the movies to get very excited, while others like superheroes,” he said.
It is worth mentioning that, this year, the Academy will give recognition to the most popular film. Although it will not be an award as such, the winner will be mentioned at the ceremony. Thus, they currently postulate productions such as Army of the Dead, Cinderella and of course, Spider-Man: No Way Home.
