Get rid of securly from kingsdown school.

The Issue

I want to kill that gnome for ruining my school life...

I'm sick and tired of securly taking away our freedom! We can't even search up for ANYTHING because of it. It will just ban what I'm on for "Anonymous Proxies" Even it's not even a proxy site! If you even try to request for the website you want to be on there wouldn't even be a response! BAN SECURLY FROM KINGSDOWN SCHOOL! It's a SICK and DESPICABLE way to spy on people!

And Securly monitors our screens 24/7 and blocks every site we can go on through the push of a button. I know kids play games and all, but kids can be trusted when they are older. It's doing more harm then good to Kingsdown School (Swindon). But NOT ONLY THAT, It's also Malware and Spyware! I don't want some random person spying on my personal information! Most of these students using Securly are under 13 too! Which is a direct violation to COPPA! And you can't remove it either!

AND SECURLY WAS ON THE NEWS TOO!

Securly was sued for 5 million dollars because they were selling children's private information to 3rd party organizations without the child's consent. It is obvious that this application is dangerous, since they can easily spy on kids. It is shocking that the school would use such a low-level software to access student info on their Chromebooks. This has been running unchecked for many years, and it is about time that the children stand up for themselves to make things right in this school. Overall, this is something that must be stopped, before kids give up.

Securly should be disabled because people should have human rights. It is a simple thing, and taking it away would basically mean that you are taking away our human rights. Many people have fought for human rights. Overall, being able to have access to entertainment is vital and should be a basic human right, and should be something that is never taken away. The school should easily understand this, and I don't blame the principals, but the administrators or the people that established this.

Securly is an intrusive and insulting interface; It is a slap in the face to both students and teachers, blocking the majority of YouTube videos and websites important for research/projects/presentations/etc. "Securly" is so severely warped and broken that if you were to go to Google, searched for a blocked website, and open the website in a new tab, your other tabs will suddenly redirect to the Securly "blocked!" page as well. At least maintain a blocking system that fundamentally works well and supports more flexibility for both students AND teachers. I don't recall signing any form that says we cant have home accounts. We feel that they are owning our Chromebooks that we purchased. I understand why they do this at school but under our parents supervision at home we feel that we should have access to our own accounts. I know many people who had photos, games, and files that were special to them on their home accounts that they no longer have access to. Securly has been invented for one reason and one reason only: tormenting children. It blocks every website known to man, and then some. I doubt anyone appreciates it; I have even heard teachers angered by its "Page Blocked!" when they try to access nothing more than an educational site. This program is completely useless for anything other than pranking your friends... I take that back. That's too cruel a punishment for anyone. If you think Securly is a good choice for keeping your school internet safe, think again. It does nothing but make internet browsing a huge hassle which becomes almost unbearable on a daily basis. I will admit that it does a good job of blocking websites - educational ones. Now, some websites that aren't school appropriate manage to slip through its cracks, but I've found only two educational, school-friendly sites that aren't limited by this pathetic waste of storage. Thank you for your time, and I hope you will sign this petition to solve this problem.

The majority of students surveyed (75%, to be precise), stated that they believe Securly invaded their privacy. On the contrary, 25% of students did not believe Securly to be invasive. This shows that 3 in 4 students think Securly risks their privacy. The lawsuit claims Securly violated California privacy law and the federal Video Privacy Protection Act by making unauthorized connections to the children's mobile devices through which Securly collected and stored location data. Securly is an illegal website. They were sued for 5 million dollars because they were selling children's private information to 3rd party organizations without the child's consent.
