Who is impacted?

Students, especially young girls at Terra Nova High School, are directly affected by this issue. The victim of the alleged assault has suffered serious trauma, and other students who have experienced harassment from this teacher may feel unsafe at school. Parents are worried about their children’s safety, and the school community as a whole has lost trust in those responsible for protecting students.

What is at stake?

If nothing changes, students will continue to be at risk, and the culture of ignoring misconduct will persist. If the administration had acted sooner, this could have been prevented. If real accountability happens now, it could set a precedent that ensures better protections for students in the future.

Why is now the time to act?

Immediate action is necessary to protect current and future students. The administration must take responsibility for allowing this behavior to continue for years. If the community speaks up and demands change, it can prevent further harm and ensure that students feel safe at school, Ms Carey and her little friend Steve are not ensuring or guaranteeing anyone the safety of their children. Someone needs to be held responsible. We need justice for the victim(s).
