I know that you think that IXL is beneficial for students but most kids struggle with it daily. IXL can cut into valuable family time and sleep which can make it hard for students to pay attention in class. Here is why you should stop giving students IXL action plans.A lot of teachers think that since we have 9 weeks to complete 8 IXL codes on our IXL action plan, we should be fine. But what they don’t think about is that many students have homework from other classes. Many students also have clubs and other after school activities that take away time. I have seen my classmates struggling with the IXL action plan in the few moments of free time they have because they can not do it at home. IXL can also cause extreme stress for students because it has a “Smart Score” that causes them to lose more points than they gain. One thing I have seen a lot of is the fact that it's more like a punishment than an encouragement. I have cried over getting a question wrong on a smart score of 99 and going back down to a 80. I have read many articles about IXL and how it is bad for students. In conclusion, IXL can make students suffer through lack of sleep, isolation, extreme stress, loss of self esteem, and many other things. If you care about your students at all, then you will sign this petition.
