Homework affects tens of thousands of students around the PGCPS area. Yes, homework can sometimes boost grades, I will not deny that. However homework also causes large amounts of stress, sleep deprivation, and other negative mental and physical health effects. Personally, for me, homework is a large source of stress and one of the largest reasons why I get less sleep than I should. Even the inventor of homework only used homework as a punishment for his students. Time after time studies have shown that homework provides mostly negative effects on students. Furthermore to this point Finland, much higher than the US in terms of test scores has no homework and has the 8th best education system in the world. This can be changed. We can simply remove homework on a school level by persuading our teachers and principals. We can change the rules county wide if we get enough people to convince the Board of Education or even the CEO of the Prince Georgeś County School System.
