Millions of tons of plastic goes unrecycled every year. But even more important than an environmental issue, what we put into the mouths of our children should be even more regulated. As a single child family, the quantity of plastic Gerber containers that we throw away on a weekly basis is disgusting. Multiply this by 20 million, the current total of single-child families in America alone. Then multiply it by the families that have two and three children. How much plastic are we wasting?

But not only does Gerber need to start placing a simple chasing arrow symbol on their containers, but we need to know the kinds of plastics that are used to store the foods we give our babies. We need to be aware of the materials that go into the plastics that our children's food is distributed & stored in.
