Citizens Against Cityhood in DeKalb
Mar 5, 2018
Email Speaker David Ralston david.ralston@house.ga.gov Let him know in your own words that Greenhaven should not be up for a vote. The Greenhaven Cityhood bill does not currently have a sponsor and the bill had been substituted. I am not sure how it was even passed out of the Governmental Affairs Committee. There is something that really is wrong about a bill being passed without a sponsor. There was no one in the DeKalb delegation that even spoke in favor of the Greenhaven HB644 bill, The Governmental Affairs Committee is offering the substitute without a sponsor Rep. Billy Mitchell, the sponsor of the bill, had asked for it to be removed (not called up). Rep. Ed Rynders, on his own accord, called it up. Why? Rynders is from Albany. This doesn't affect his constituents. No Representatives on the Governmental Affairs Committee could recall an instance when a bill was called up (let alone moved through committee) when the SPONSOR WAS NOT PRESENT. It is not even clear what bill the Governmental Affairs committee voted on, since the bill posted on the House website is the substitute that Representative Vernon Jones withdrew, and the original bill read was withdrawn by the original bill sponsor Representative Billy Mitchell. Total breakdown of the rules and procedures. There was no updated map presented to the committee. Let it be, please do not resurrect HB644 Greenhaven bill. http://www.legis.ga.gov/legislation/en-US/Display/20172018/HB/644 Ed Williams. Ed.D.
