It is important to support HB 46 because currently Georgia does not check the CPS (Child Protective Service) Registry or the sexual offender registry before licensing in-home, facility or early care and learning facility worker or employees. This bill would require that all daycare licensing applicants and renewals to have comprehensive background checks that would include: sexual offender, criminal background check, Child Protective Services Registry check,and fingerprint. In order to keep children from being harmed and/or fatally injured while in care by verifying and prohibiting registered offenders from being licensed to care for children.
