Georgia Gwinnett College offer Korean Language Course

Georgia Gwinnett College offer Korean Language Course
The Issue
Globalization has enabled an increasing influence of Korean culture in our Gwinnett Community, as well as Atlanta as a whole. It can be found all around us. The popular street, Pleasant Hill Road, is filled with Korean stores, restaurants, bakeries, supermarkets, and more. In addition, Korean films are often played at the nearest movie theater: Sugarloaf Mills AMC. As a result, the Korean language is a very resourceful language to learn for our every-day life cultural contacts. Atlanta, and especially Gwinnett County, has been a growing hotspot of Korean immigration. Many second generation Koreans have lost the roots of their heritage because of the lack of institutions that teach the Korean language. As parents work through the American Dream, academia is stressed importantly to their children in order to achieve a high dream and live a better life. Therefore, the Korean language is not stressed importantly to learn. It demotivates many because it must be done through personal efforts, without any reward (such as college credits).
As a result, it is imperative that we launch the Korean Language course to Georgia Gwinnett College's curriculum in order to help students advance in their future careers, and improve communications their community and homes.
We, the undersigned, hereby express our support for and interest in the offering of Korean language classes at GGC.
