King America Finishing has been illegally discharging pollution from its flame retardant line to the Ogeechee River for over 5 years. In May 2011, the river became so stressed that over 33,000 fish died along an 85 mile stretch of the river downstream from the industrial polluter. Now, a year later, more fish are dying and the river is closed to fishing and swimming in areas downstream of King America Finishing.

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division proposes to approve a permit that will allow too much pollution from King America Finishing into the Ogeechee River. This permit allows unsafe levels of ammonia, formaldehyde and other toxic chemicals into a once pristine river system.
