Mandate the Friendly Foster Program across Georgia Shelters.

Mandate the Friendly Foster Program across Georgia Shelters.
The Issue
Today, I write to our friends in the animal rescue community and to state and local government leaders in Georgia concerned with animal welfare. I urge you to consider and adopt a Friendly Foster Program. This is a kind of cooperation between local government shelters, credentialed private rescue organizations and the community at large that can significantly increase resources available for the care and rehoming or adoption of animals found lost or abandoned in Georgia. Please join me and sign this petition to urge state and local agencies to authorize and adopt a Friendly Foster Program.
Most of us who work rescue in Georgia understand how critical it is that the various public and private rescue processes and systems work together to help animals in need. However, intake processes vary from county to county, some facilitating cooperation with private organizations and others not. This petition urges the various agencies to standardize procedures and to facilitate a cooperative relationship with appropriately credentialed Friendly Fosters to whom the agencies can delegate the care and placement of lost or abandoned animals as a supplement to their own activities.
The dog we found on the side of the road we named “Jewel.” We fed her, we warmed her, we began to teach her to trust caring people. We care about her destiny. We ask Cobb County to return Jewel to us for care and placement and allow us to work with the county in the future in a mutually supportive Foster Friendly Program. Our hope is to minimize the trauma these animals are experiencing and build stronger communities programs especially during these desperate times.
Thank you,
W-Underdogs fighting for justice for all.
