Netting of deer has been done for years in Sun City, TX because some residents planted things like rosebushes that they like to eat. They claim netting of the deer for four months a year is to stop disease and overpopulation, neither of which are present in Sun City. They are allowed to trap and net heavily pregnant does and yearlings from January until the end of March evert single year. It is a budgeted item in our revenue from dues and projected out until 2023. They tell residents they count the deer (without and tagging or identification system in place) and then order the slaughter. This practice is barbaric and deer are hurt with broken legs and other injuries, pregnant doe can lose their pregnancies from stress and deer urinate and defecate from fear and trying to break through the nets. Bucks are dragged and held down so their antlers can be sawed off. More and more residents are saying we are losing our deer population, one of the reasons we chose to live in Sun City. Please help us save our deer from this barbaric harvesting of extremely healthy animals who live quietly among us.
