Georges River Council - Stop Sacrificing Safety for Revenue at Peakhurst Park

Georges River Council - Stop Sacrificing Safety for Revenue at Peakhurst Park
The Issue
Many people, both children and adults, attend Peakhurst Park for sports such as cricket, football or soccer.
At Trafalgar St Peakhurst (Peakhurst Park), people are forced to make a safety call judgement when choosing how to park. We, especially parents, are trained to seek safer ways of doing things, and the nose-to-kerb parking at Trafalgar St is not safe. The combination of blind spots, swarming people and speeding cars and busses makes nose-to-curb parking at Trafalgar St highly dangerous.
Georges River Council chooses to ignore the community concerns and instead continues to fine people trying to park safely.
Many people, including the Peakhurst United Football Club and local state MP's have stated their safety concerns for the front to kerb parking. There have been accidents, including a bus taking out 3 or so cars. The response by Georges River Council... "The current parking arrangements are safe and compliant with the Australian standard requirements."
The parking may be compliant, BUT IT IS NO WAY SAFE!
Georges River Council chooses to instead fine many people instead of rectifying the safety issue. I took it to court, where the case against me was dismissed. The safety issue is still there, and the council is doing little about it. Despite spending $1.7 million on a synthetic playing field, they chose not to rectify the parking for a fraction of the cost. Instead, the council keeps it as a revenue-raising site and ignores the repeated community concerns for safety.
We are trying to be safe but getting fined for it - That's not fair!
Georges River Council - do the right thing. Rectify the parking so that we can safely park rear to kerb at Peakhurst Park.
