Hello all 320,087 of you amazing people!!!! Some BIG news: we made it onto the BBC’s 100 Women series of 2016!!! YAY! Thank you for all of your hard work, both over the past two years since we started this petition in 2014, and more specifically over the past 12 months. This year has been huge for us. We saw the implementation of the Tampon Tax Fund, which gave £15m to female-focused charities, Paula Sherriff MP forced the period-taboo-smashing and tampon-tax-ending amendment through Parliament, and the Chancellor subsequently made the unprecedented announcement that tampon tax will finally be axed. Period. What’s more? He finally gave us a concrete date: tampon tax will end in March 2018, when Brexit complications have been dealt with and Paula’s amendment can be put into effect. Put simply, we changed history. Period. We have achieved so much and it’s all thanks to YOU! But we can’t stop there. We need to push for further changes that fight sexism, particularly until our tampon tax ending legislation finally comes into effect in 2018. To do just that, we have a SUPER exciting year of campaigning lined up for 2017! Together we can achieve some even bigger things for gender equality. To kick this off, we launched our new campaign, the Homeless Period, 3 weeks ago to improve the provision of period products for homeless women and trans men.
