Adoption Should Be Free

The Issue

When my husband and I married in 2010, we both knew that we wanted a very large family. We wanted biological children but we also felt the urgency of adopting children in need. Fast forward to 2019. Upon researching and starting the process for adoption, we learned very quickly that the adoption process would quite possibly be well out of our reach due to the ridiculous amount of money one must have stored away in order to do so. We were (And still are) open to fostering but of course reunification is the main goal of fostering. More questions began to arise.

What happens to the children that do not have the option of reunification?

If there is such an urgency to adopt the millions of children that are in the system, why is the process so long, arduous, and expensive?

Why are adoption costs so astronomical? Why does it cost $50,000 to adopt a child in need?

If there are millions of children who need adopting, and millions of families willing to adopt, what is actually keeping the 2 sides from coming together? One short answer: Money.

If the need for adoption is so great, why isn’t it free? ADOPTION SHOULD BE FREE.
$1,000-$3,000 for a home visit is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. Why are these Poor children being kept in the system when there are so many families waiting to welcome them into their families with open arms?

Please join me is asking our leaders to help adoption be possible for everyday families who are desperate to help in this crisis.
