File Charges Against the Driver in the Crash that Killed Amelie Le Moullac

The Issue

On August 14, 2013, a cyclist, Amelie Le Moullac, was killed by a driver, who had made a right turn in front of Ms. Le Moullac while she was bicycling to work.

The city of San Francisco has an obligation to protect the safety of cyclists who are on the road with other motor vehicles. In this particular case, the SFPD did not make even the simplest investigation. SFPD neglected to look for surveillance cameras or witnesses to the crash. Instead, several SF Police actually harassed cyclists who were mourning Ms. Le Moullac's death.

After the informal memorial, members of the San Franicsco Bicycle Coalition easily obtained video footage from a local business that showed the vehicle running over Ms. Le Moullac by simply walking around and talking to local business owners.

District Attorney Gascon, it has been reported that you have decided not to file charges in the case even with the evidence on the video footage found by the Bicycle Coalition. We urge you to reconsider.

Four people were killed while biking in San Francisco last year, and no charges were filed against the drivers in any of these cases.

This is outrageous! Where is the justice for Ms. Le Moullac and the other cyclists killed by San Francisco motorists last year?

District Attorney Gascon, we urge you to reverse your decision and file charges against the driver in the case of Amelie Le Moullac.
