Prevent the Next World Pandemic: Factory Farms

Prevent the Next World Pandemic: Factory Farms

The Issue

The next pandemic is sitting within the factory farms of TODAY.

I am calling on the UK government to impose strict regulations on the existence of 'US Style' factory farms as the conditions within these farms are the EXACT SAME as those which exist in Chinese Wet Markets. This would mean a frequent global pandemic will be inevitable until further action is made to resolve our relationship with the environment and treat farming with a mindset of animal rights and not economic feasibility.

"Nearly every county in England has at least one industrial-scale livestock farm, with close to 800 US-style mega farms operating across the UK, new research reveals." - The Guardian. These Mega Farms also play a crucial role in speeding up Climate Change.

Llivestock farming contributes 18% of human produced greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. Inappropriate policies, which include pricing, subsidy and tax, have encouraged the excessive, and often uneconomic, use of inputs such as fertilizers and pesticides, and the overexploitation of land.

It is clear to realise that preventing a pandemic is the better option over resolving a pandemic.

I hope you agree with my message and take the time to sign and share the petition.
