Make it a requirement for drivers to report accidents involving cats
The Issue
To whom it may concern,
Domestic animals have a huge place in the lives of many. They give us emotional strength and love. If you're a cat/pet enthusiast please sign the petition.
If your dog were to be left on a road it would feel awful.
This law may save the lives of many cats/animals in the UK. Cats are living and breathing beings. Their suffering is no less than a dogs or a humans. This law will make drivers more aware of cats and hopefully animals in general when driving which will result in safer driving.
Please let cats have equal rights to dogs and make it illegal to hit a cat and then drive off. Whoever hits the cat with the vehicle should be responsible legally to; contact the local authorities or bury the animal themselves. Otherwise they should try and contact owners or people who may know who the owners are.
It is extremely unethical and hurtful to leave a cat lying on the side of the road.

(7)A person who fails to comply with a duty under subsection (5) above is guilty of an offence, but he shall not be convicted by reason only of a failure to produce a certificate or other evidence if, within [F5seven] days after the occurrence of the accident, the certificate or other evidence is produced at a police station that was specified by him at the time when the accident was reported.
(8)In this section “animal” means horse, cattle, ass, mule, sheep, pig, goat or dog.

The Oxford dictionary doesn't class only the above animals as "animal".

So why should we?
What would be great is if all animals were equally treated, leaving an animal hurt is incredibly cruel.
