The California Community College system is at a pivotal point where we look towards the future of the largest higher education system in the United States. In April, Chancellor Brice Harris will be retiring. The Board of Governors has established a Chancellor Search Committee which has members from the Board of Governors, the Community College League of California, the CEO of the Foundation for California Community Colleges and the President of the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges but the committee is missing a representative from the largest constituency in the community college system: the students. The voice of 2.3 million students in California will not be heard in choosing the next Chancellor for our system. To deny our input, the only group who must pay to participate in the system, is alarming and disrespectful.

We call for President Dahlia Salem and Vice President Victor Chavarin Jr (Alternate) to be added to the search committee ensuring a fair and equal voice.
