THE STRUGGLE TO CARE FOR OUR LOVED ONES WHILE BEING DESPOILED.

The previous update was for the ones who like facts . This one is for people who take care of their loved ones . Imagine coming back home from caring for your elderly mother finding out that landlords took full control of your flat home. What would you do ? Before going further,  here is a simple backstory that most of us can relate during our lifetime.

When my father died , it was left to his 2 daughters to take over the full care of his wife , our mum .  His presence and his care  had been such a tremendous help that we only realised  truly when he was gone how much we missed him. We were unprepared and could not cope with her needs, 24 hour care and work at the same time, living in different geographical areas.

However, one month after finding home care for our mother, I had to stop working again as she was admitted in hospital with a hip fracture. The full story unravelled, within the last  month, unknown to me, Mum  fell allegedly  5 times.  She never fell  before. I had not been told not to alarm me , as I live so far ( 8h drive ) and received news for that month on the phone. When I found her in hospital, she was asking for help and was tied up in a bed, completely lost. Before the operation I mentioned how much she enjoyed and loved walking . But after, I will discover she was fitted with a prosthesis meant for bed ridden people and there was no real rehab for people with dementia. I felt my mother was let down. After a week of rehab she had lost the sparkles in her eyes, was not very responsive to us and had become incontinent . Her recovery was nowhere. We decided to take her back home to my sister’s and revoked the care home. We organised a schedule of 24 h care. I was  sleeping with her at night and waking her up at set times. We organise a timetable  during the  day to re-educate her bladder and strengthen her muscles and HER WILL to TAKE CONTROL and walk again.  After a few months of starting the physiotherapy ourselves  and  reeducation for her walk we reached victory.  She made it, regained her continence and walked with a stick and/or one of us as helpers. Despite her evolving dementia through a stroke in a particular area of her brain 10 years prior, when we took her out from the hospital she told us   “you cannot imagine what you have done for me “ , thanking us with a smile.  That was one of the first of the numerous episodes of my mother’s ongoing care for the next few years. Walking had always been such a pleasure to her that it was our  recompense to see her joy walking again.

And this brings me  to what was happening at the same time  at home. For the landlords, as investors it was easy to set up the scene to take over my small flat.  The payment, done for my lease and share for the rights to my home, had vanished. It was put to me I  needed to pay  at least 6 figures to have them back. They also had left my disrepairs to a less than suboptimal remedy level and damaged my flat  by more reckless  building work, during my absence and presence afterwards .  Instead of taking responsibility for those, they used legal loopholes and added calumnies . There was never any doubt that I  could fight their unscrupulous deals. But they forgot one thing. My decision cannot change .  While the current law protecting your home still permits such vile actions such as taking over your home’s worth and peace, my life with  its dignity, ethics and integrity facing their greed, control and power  is Mine to keep and to ask you and the lawmakers to vote for the new law to pass.

My life will be swallowed one day by these predatory actions but until then I hope that the recognition of the rights  I am fighting for will prevail, that changes will be brought into law soon for no one else to go through the same ordeal.

We do fight to keep our drinkable water clean from any sewage, scourge of any type . Keeping a peaceful housing from scourge of any type needs some help too from you.

Hope for good health and housing for each of us allowing us  to take good care of our loved ones in peace is needed. I might not succeed, I have hope but no optimism. Can you take over when I am gone ?

RESISTANCE IS NOT FUTILE “ NEVER FOR OUR BASIC RIGHTS.

Please spread the word while I won't give up knocking at the doors of busy people.
