From a young age, older people who can't be here anymore gave me a marvellous gift , the motivation to combat any form of injustice until my last breath.
Today I am tackling the housing one I have known for 27 years, not with much hope as I am too small to be convincing but until…. A house is made of four walls and a roof. However are they good ones ? Do they allow you to breathe in ? Do they keep you warm and at peace when needed or is there a constant invasion of your personal life ?
One can adapt such as transforming a room that is too cold as a fridge , another room receiving constant humming of a neighbour’s machine has to be transformed in a storage one, another one receiving recurrent small earthquakes like bringing your microwave out of its shelf onto the floor needs to be catered for.Your home shrunk to having one room left to use and that room has no sound protection. The non Idyllic home flat you will think of ! Well, I forgot the special smell coming from an incognito pipe ! And no mention of the structural repairs to be done.
So You buy the rights to make some transformation and the payment is stolen from you by the landlord. The payment was to obtain the right to manage oneself in a badly converted house for each individual (flat) to receive proper repairs, no added damages and no investors renting out for profits without accountability, most people call it normal quality of home life.
What else to do, losing this right ? This is secondary prevention as you were lucky enough to buy ( considered as primary prevention) 4 walls even if porous ones and a roof even if a leaky one . In those years, where and who to ask for reliable help? Someone Not permitted to apply for a secondary prevention remedy to live in a healthier way in their home flat will not be known. or recognised. That absence of protection is a silent killer. It either drives you mad or brings you chronic and incurable illnesses, so the buck is passed to a health carer who says, sorry “your body and mind are exhausted by the wear and tears from life”…..
The everlasting inner upheaval obliterated my life resilience and I spoke about it in other posts. While a good home should allow everyone to deal with life stresses with equanimity, by using it as a sanctuary and a base as a strength to go forward facing life duties, It also can be a rock to carry out actions close to the ideals one desires to accomplish in life .
A constant detraction of your housing life will pull anyone further down. When you are struggling to keep up with everything, your work, family commitments… , you have no insight, no feedback, having to move forward believing in justice, in the law.
Is it not before destitution and illnesses that help should be at one’s door? With the inertia of our world Changes nearly never happen or the challenges are set on a too steep climb. This is why I decided to DO THE NEXT RIGHT THING , getting out of my comfort zone. By speaking out, I am trying to get you out of yours in being motivated to bring support for changes as someone you know might have to go through that one day or has already had to go through the same ordeal.
The abuse of my housing situation did not allow me to give my mother a dignified death . Hearing the lyrics “For those who can’t be here” was a reminiscence of the struggle to follow her wishes to have a peaceful end of life. There are many kinds of beautiful life and many kinds of sad life and destroyed life simply through the meanness of others . Do we need a war to realise that the world is that simple, if we do not stand for each other , we risk our own destruction.
If one's life was dedicated to protecting vulnerability and frailty of any kind, It is revolting to watch in the news the power, and control over someone’s life and its well being that can engender a determination to humiliate that vulnerable life until it fades away into oblivion. Our Humanity would want to allow every person to grow successfully and blossom.
For each tragedy we say “no more” but soon after the thought disappears into the meanders of our memory as the daily routine of life blinds us.
The pandemic brought its learning curve. We lost our loved ones who should not have been lost , the same thing happened during the peak of my housing crisis . Such crises are like tornadoes, they blow you away willingly or not.
I am tackling this crime knowing the ins and outs having experienced it for 27 years because most of all, Matters can be rectified with simple measures prior to a life’s destitution through legal entanglements management incompetence and landlord oppression.
In the case I am fighting for, safeguards should have been triggered preventing these years of housing failure. Primary prevention instead of waiting for the secondary prevention in housing to redress destitution would be an easier and sensible path .
Peaceful people tend to give the benefit of the doubt to their detractors who bring no changes to their life, albeit more impediment and despair. Despite having had the chance of a good education , I was not skilled in defending myself. I never stood up against their injustice believing that the law would stand up to counteract blatant injustice. But so far it never did while
A JUDGE HAS THE CAPACITY TO BRING LIFE INTO OUR RIGHTS
And a reliable charity supporting our cause at the right time and not being faint-hearted is a bowl of fresh air. Why allow delay ?
One strong measure of changes in housing was started by the law commission.
Let’s help to upgrade its changes to its full approval and implementation
it is why I need your support from, YOU , simple people like I am . We just need to be reminded that people are mainly good I was told, look around and really see each other especially those who need a helping hand
Housing is a huge problem, first to acquire a home, Going ahead fighting for the recognition of the repairs constantly jeopardised by greedy landlords or with another agenda ? Admittingly, this interferes with your life and your health? For years I considered my only choice was to accept it until the landlord was ready to realise the wrongs he was doing. But not anymore with your support, Because we know Inequity kills discretely if we close our eyes.
I urge you and exhort you, in the spirit of this particular time of the year with all the struggles we are still facing , DO NOT GIVE UP and SIGN AND SHARE THIS PETITION even if only with one person.
This SIMPLE and UNFALTERING SUPPORT FROM YOU WILL ALLOW ME TO MOVE FORWARD in the needed right direction.
Because it is allegedly impossible to obtain justice based on life ethics and on the same rights of living for each of us I was told the pursuit of the Law of Ethics can only destroy me. It is too late to change course . Another wasted life does not matter.
Let’s not forget INADEQUATE housing reduces the quality of HUMAN LIFE, their resilience to illnesses and their strength to bring a better economic strength to the country.
Thank you for signing and sharing ,
