What happened? 

The law commission has worked on a proposed housing reform  ( leasehold and commonhold ) and sent it to the government. While I understand  the rippling effect of covid, brexit and so on ,  are crippling,  we are still waiting.

I want to participate in the changes and help in order that it is not only what is on paperwork , on the computer that counts but in real life.  

Thanks to my age , I have more practical experience than the lawmakers writers and composers  having faced during these last 26 years not only the 

-Take over of my flat-home, financially 

-but also the disparaging patchy work of my disrepairs  and of damages made by influential neighbour 's building work in an already old house with fragile frames and badly converted , leaving me to try to do my best  with much less  than a suboptimal environmental quality 

I am standing  to help to apply matters with common sense and in a simple way, Changes to be introduced from 2021 should be compulsory and done in a simple way without a crushing legislation that has little understanding on the mental effects of 26 years of struggle to obtain what one does with money and power in one second.

I am just a normal person. 

The big management companies should not be responding to the ombudsman they pay but to an impartial body made of civilians without conflict of interest. Management company existence should be scrapped for small houses converted into flats. For health matters , let me help, this  being my field for the last 35 years, previous to that with MSF in other countries. 

What I heard from the landlord directly or through his managers for 26 years

We , landlords , as the cream of society 

we assure you it is with our usual piety and duty

that we notice, this time, your disrepairs 

but again do not despair

with magnanimity we’ll re apply a patch 

Please, do not think there is a catch 

Mind you, if you feel like leaving 

after years of expecting 

a thorough and long standing remedy 

To go, might be for you relieving ?

This is not thieving

strictly business and called money efficiency

Did you mention life quality and peaceful happiness ? 

This, we suspect is a concept full of emptiness.

However you have to be agreeing

that we were born with more rights

hence why we are forthright

your home rights that you so strongly allege

being yours, is without doubt part of our privilege

Yes Landlord, you are right , thank you for your reply

The disrepairs could have been tackled yesterday

and even the day before yesterday

but Today is my day 

for having waited more than half a century 

to be recognised for the right remedy

I do not want people of tomorrow,

within the same insanity , grow 

when the real matter done “ yesterday” 

would have allowed people to deal today 

with what should be the real “today’s urgency”

and not a housing right equality.
