Half, YES HALF, of all drivers are women. Most of those drivers carry these mini luggage contraptions, aka PURSES! As far as compartments, contraptions, technology, etc. We have cup holders, glove compartments, umbrella holders, clips for glasses, cell phone grips with charging stations & even ashtrays/coinslots. Yet the one thing I carry every day, has no space. Passenger seat, Back seat, Passenger  floor space, back seat floor? Ha! Sure, if I'm not on soccer mom duty, headed to school or returning kids home, shuttling every neighboorhood kid to and fro, taxi service for friends, family, and on and on and on, etc. Some may say put it in the trunk... sure! Because a car full of kids and teens would never need a drive through stop. No we have to pull over to dig out money? Cuz they never pay! On those rare occasions  that I am traveling alone, sure I toss it on the passenger seat. But I can't tell you how many times that ends up on the floor face down. Love picking up all the contents over & over.

My suggestion. Mostly for SUVs & Cars. Put the parking brake back near the drivers foot area. The Automatic Tranny Shifter back on the steering column. Make this - between the front buckets area - more female friendly. (Not to exclude men with tablets, satchels, man purses or buldging wallets they prefer not to sit on.) Mini vans seem to have a better set-up, no gender assumptions there. Give me a cupholder or 2, there is also 1 in each driver & front seat passenger door. (Do 2 people really need 4 beverages?) Give me this space for a deep bucket-ish space.  Even give it a removable liner. Other uses may include: trash can, various crap storage, smaller machete holder, place to toss hats, fast food bags, or whatever. The list goes on & on. Not to say this will be able to accomidate purses of all shapes & sizes. But really? I can't be the first person to have this aggravation.
