A New Pledge of Allegiance

A New Pledge of Allegiance
The Issue
A NEW PLEDGE of ALLEGIANCE
from a U.S. Marine (inactive)
The time has come for our focus, our pledge be to the constitution, not a flag. The original 'Pledge of Allegiance to The Flag' dates back to September 8, 1892. The flag is often used as a cudgel, rather than a summons to affirm devotion to the written principles in our constitution. That must change.
No serviceperson has fought nor died for the flag, per se, but for the unalienable rights and ideals for which it stands.
Every country has a flag: North Korea, Russia, Syria; Germany, Japan, and Italy of WWII, Iran—every country. However, only one country—The United States of America—has a constitution that embodies the principles found in The Constitution of The United States.
While we honor the symbolism and shed blood associated with the U.S. flag, the time has come to place the emphasis where it should be: on the Constitution.
PLEGDE of ALLEGIANCE
to The Constitution
I pledge allegiance
to The Constitution
of The United States
of America,
and to a just Republic
for which our flag stands.
One nation under God
ensuring liberty
and justice for all.
