Refund Bruins for the inferior online school of winter quarter!

During the recent surge of the Covid-19 variant Omicron, UCLA has elected to return to an online learning model. The end date of this online schooling was first promised to be January 18th, but, as of January 7th, has now been pushed back to January 28th. It is entirely possible that even this date will be pushed back with students and professors already theorizing that the entire quarter will be online.

The online learning of spring quarter 2020 and the entire 2020-21 school year, while unfortunate, was a necessarily scrambled response due to globally unprecedented circumstances in the history of the school. Now, in winter 2022, UCLA continues to act in a similarly scrambled and ad-hoc fashion. As students grapple with the fact that a significant proportion of their college education will be conducted online, despite no change in its cost, the flexibility and understanding Bruins gave their school is coming to an end.

Online school is not comparable to the value of an in-person education. As such, the demand of the Bruin student body is simple: let us pay for only what we have been given. The school must refund students for these weeks of online school.
