At the age of 18 a mans title is changed to Mr, this shows nothing other than that they are now a man and aged 18 or over. At the age of 18 a woman remains Miss, unless we specify. It would be more equal I feel if women became Ms at the age of 18.

Men - Mr - marital status is unspecified.                                               Women - Miss unmarried, Mrs married, Ms unspecified but commonly presumed unmarried, divorced, spinster.

Partners can still take their partners names to share a family name, Mr and Ms Jones but the title is not changed to show marital status.

 On most forms it can't possibly be vital to know if women are married, if we don't need to know the marital status of the men. In order for the world to become equal for all, this dated system should be abolished.
