The issue

DATE OF EVENT: 15th November 12pm state library

I am a member of Gen Z, and like many of you, I am feeling an overwhelming sense of hopelessness amidst the chaos that our world seems to be engulfed in. Every day, we're confronted by the harsh realities of climate change, the uncertain advancements of artificial intelligence, and the skyrocketing cost of living that is making basic living a daily struggle. We deserve better than this. We deserve a sustainable future that offers more than mere survival—one where we can truly live, grow, and thrive.

I remeber being around the age of 9 and going with mum to protests against climate change, worried as a young child that our planet would burn before i got the chance to experience it-  only for a few years later to be more scared, that even sooner my future will be taken from me-

We cannot remain passive and wait for someone else to address these urgent issues for us. It is up to us to make our voices heard and push for the changes we desperately need. A Gen Z protest in Melbourne is not just a demonstration—it's a demonstration of hope, of unity, and of our collective power to make a difference. It's about demanding what should be rightfully ours. We cannot turn our heads and keep scrolling forever.

We're witnessing a global awakening as Gen Z stands up, raises their voices, and fights for a future that's just, sustainable, and equitable. From France to Nairobi, young people are no longer staying silent about the critical issues that threaten our future, including climate change, social justice, and economic equality. However, here in Melbourne, we remain shockingly quiet. This is a wake-up call for our generation to rise with the same tenacity as our global peers.

This is not just a call to action; it is a plea and beg for our very survival. WE need to be mad enough to want change, and WE NEED to be bold enough to demand it. Let us unite and show the world that we are awake, aware, and ready to fight for the future we deserve.
