The Issue

The historic wolverton works site demolition plans have changed some of the buildings are now safe. However the shops or buildings that will still be demolished  the east repair shed and the powerhouse and sawmill and smithy these buildings need to be saved. The oldest buildings on site are the sawmill joiners and smithy shops as well as the 1901 powerhouse have been left to rot and collapse and these buildings on site need to be restored and retained too much of wolverton's heritage and history is being removed.  New comers to town have no idea what wolverton is most famous for they just see all the fast food shops and the mess of the once most famous railway works in the world. Its time we made the change and stood up and said enough is enough save our heritage restore the site. Historic England have confirmed there is a grant that can be applied for to restore the site its now time we stopped the demolition of this site and save it. The works is the main reason for the town and is the heart of the conservation area the site needs to be restored and opened up for open days which can bring money back.
