Liebe Unterstützer:innen,

sehr erfreut teilen wir mit, dass die Petition vom Mai 2022 gegen die Umgestaltung der GSW-Westfassade am Ende erfolgreich war:

Aufgrund der öffentlichen Reaktionen und der Intervention des Baukollegiums sowie auf Basis einer vertieften Machbarkeitsstudie hat sich der Bauherr entschieden, unserer Empfehlung zu folgen und die Fassade zu renovieren, anstatt sie zu ersetzen. Wer ab und an durch die Rudi-Dutschke-Straße fährt, hat vielleicht schon bemerkt, dass die farbigen Lamellen abgehängt wurden und – von innen an die Fassade gelehnt – darauf warten, nach der Renovierung der Unterkonstruktion wieder aufgehängt zu werden. Wir sind sehr froh und dankbar, dass damit der Originalzustand der Fassade mit verbesserter Funktion wiederhergestellt wird und das Gebäude in seiner bekannten Identität erhalten bleibt.

Wir danken vor allem den Eigentümern, aber auch allen, die diese Petition mitgetragen und geholfen haben, eine Ikone der Nachwende-Architektur zu schützen und zu erhalten.

Ebenso danken wir den Kolleg:innen der Priedemann Fassadenberatung GmbH sowie Transsolar KlimaEngineering für die gute Beratung und Zusammenarbeit.

Dear supporters,

We are very pleased to share that the petition launched in May 2022 against the replacement of the GSW west façade has ultimately been successful.

Following the public response and the intervention of the Baukollegium, and on the basis of an in-depth feasibility study, the client has decided to follow our recommendation and renovate the façade rather than replace it. Those who occasionally pass along Rudi-Dutschke-Straße may already have noticed that the coloured lamellae have been taken down and are currently stored against the façade from the inside, awaiting reinstallation once the substructure has been renovated.

We are very grateful that this will restore the façade to its original appearance, with improved performance, and preserve the building in its well-known identity.

Our sincere thanks go first and foremost to the owners, as well as to everyone who supported this petition and helped protect and preserve an icon of post-reunification architecture.
