Thomas Sinclair started this petition to Gedling County Council

The residents of Balmoral Road and the neighbourhood of Colwick, Netherfield Bakersfield, and Carlton would like the shutdown of the hostel at 22-24 Balmoral Road for use to house ex-convicts. Whilst it is understood that newly released prisoners need accommodation, to which we are sympathetic, housing them together in one 'House of Multiple Occupancy' is not effective or beneficial to their successful reintroduction to society. Had there been harmonious social behaviours and integration then of course there would not be an issue, but is not the case.

The last few years has seen weekly visits from blues; be it Police for anti-social behaviour, domestic violence and theft, or drug related ambulance call outs. There have been theft sprees to neighbourhood residential properties and even flashing from convicted peadofiles to children on the street, alongside constant anti-social behaviour shouting in the street, fights with neighbours, messy property and drug dealing activities.

If crime rise this can affect house prices which can stall or fall, and insurance rates will rise for home and vehicle. We don't feel safe and we've put up with the issues for long enough.
