As an upstanding citizen, I can no longer stand by and watch history continue to repeat itself. I see racism constantly in the UK by the minority, whether at football games, in school or despicable acts on the street. These are towards even children, who cannot understand why they are hated and bullied, and I see how it negatively impacts on adult lives and my loved ones. 

In our schools, sex education (from year 7) and religion is compulsory. How is it possible these topics are more important than race education? More important than teaching racism is wrong? Please join me in asking the government to once and for all take this seriously and teach this as a compulsory subject in the curriculum. This is one virus which we do have a cure for, and we can change for the good but it can only truly change through educating from early on.

Racism is not genetic, it is taught. Handed down through generations to young people who are brainwashed to hate, or influenced by other younger people surrounded by this mentality. We have the power to teach those children that racism is wrong, to unteach hatred and highlight why racism came about. To teach how important it is not to repeat the same way of thinking. 

Nobody should ever feel anyone deserves to die, be punished, humiliated or bullied because of their race. But we still live in a world where some children do grow up to believe this. Let’s change this together!
