As of Wednesday, January 6th, there were 8 positive reported cases from the first day back of school after Winter Break at Northgate High School in Walnut Creek, CA. The next day it was reported that the number more than doubled to 17, with 300 students remaining home due to close contact, possible symptoms, or out of fear of catching the virus.
UPDATE: On Monday, January 10th, the school reported an additional 30 positive cases. It is unknown how many students remained home/absent after Thursday. However, it is clear that at this school, and likely many others in the area, COVID-19 cases continue to rise.
Additionally, 4 days ago it was reported that 10% (about 175 teachers) from the Mt. Diablo Unified School District are also currently out.
