This petition is to bring awareness to the lack of enough staff in our California prison system during this epidemic of the coronavirus. I myself believe as well as the others signing the petition that allowing some inmates to come home and be granted a second change with time served during this time would not only be helping protect inmates but also staff!!! During this time and this epidemic many staff and volunteers (such as correctional officers, counselors, religious staff, educational staff, mental health staff, etc) are being told to stay home To prevent the spread of the virus which in that case does not allow enough protection and mental stability in our prisons and our medical facilities!!! It also takes away the support that some inmates who are both mentally unstable physically unstable or substance abuse unstable and need counseling the ability to receive so. I feel as if the inmates who have two years or fewer should be granted the chance to come home as a second chance!!! Those to be released should include those with 2years or less time left, those with good time, those who have proven a change and meet the parole board requirements of both prop 57 and non violent second striker board!!! Please take our word and our belief into consideration during these times!!!!
