Free Jaime Lopez from Prison Now
The Issue
Updated petition from Jaime Lopez on May 9, 2022:
What would you do in prison with a life sentence without the possibility of parole for a murder you did not commit?
Do you believe it can happen to you?
Jaime Lopez has answered this question everyday for the last 15 years, while he is fighting for justice and for his freedom, while serving a slow death sentence in prison for a murder he is innocent of.
Please support Jaime's petition to California's Governor Gavin Newsom for a commutation of his sentence and another opportunity to prove his innocence in the court of law.
Jaime's wrongful conviction is a double dishonor of our criminal justice system: it does nothing to honor the victims of this terrible tragedy, and it miscarries justice by condemning an innocent man.
By supporting Jaime's commutation, you are making a statement in favor of restorative justice and taking a stand against injustice and merely thrusting people away through our impersonal legal mechanism.
Original petition:
Jaime Lopez was sentenced to life behind prison bars without the possibility of parole for a murder he did not commit.
After 14 years in prison, Jaime Lopez is submitting a commutation application to the office of the Governor of California, Gavin Newsom. Maintaining his innocence, Jaime will be able to present the circumstances in which he was wrongfully convicted of the crime. He will ask Governor Newsom for the right to a new and fair trial, reduction of his prison sentence, and the opportunity to go before the Parole Board to demonstrate his growth, insight, and accomplishments* while imprisoned.
To increase the likelihood for Governor Newsom to respond favorably to Jaime's request, we need your help. Please support Jaime Lopez's commutation. Sign the petition. Share the link. The goal is to obtain 5000 signatures.
Thank you.

Gracias.
