The current pandemic has caused a strain on the entire country. The families of incarcerated persons are struggling just like everyone else. The collection of restitution during a pandemic only compounds the unlikeliness that a family member is able to assist an incarcerated person to their current level of need. The department of corrections has failed the incarcerated population. The department of corrections is organized slavery. The collection of restitution is outright a deterrent to family and friends at a time where the whole country is suffering. We ask that the governor and the secretary of the CDCr reconsider their current position on collecting restitution during a pandemic . We asked that they understand the current hardship that each and every resident of the state is undergoing. Please join our fight let the powers that be know we are watching. We are willing to help our loved ones to the best of our financial ability. It is in the governor and the CDCr's power to affect real change.
