End Death By Incarceration for Mary Rhodes son-Serving LWOP
Why this petition matters

My name is Darnell F. Rhodes I have served 30 years in prison with Life Without Parole (LWOP) for a murder I committed in my early 20's. I accept full responsibility for my actions and I am deeply remorseful for taking a life. I deal with the horror every day and I am not saying this because I am in prison, this happened with no intention-but I still take full responsibility for what I have done and it is a tragedy that I wish upon no-one.
The beginning of my journey was definately a struggle trying to deal with the fact that I had killed a person and it was a bumpy ride-working through my issues mentally and struggling with the fact that I would never have the opportunity to live a normal life. As I matured I realized that I could be a role. model to the younger inmates-My passion and love is basketball I was headed to success until the drug problem took over my life. Here at the prison the young guys call me "Coach" as I share with them the game. I am now in a wheelchair due to my physical illness, but that does not stop me because I believe one day I will be able to live the rest of my days with my family.
I have taken courses to improve my skills and rehabilitate myself to be a positive role model. In my 30 years I have learned what not to do and to be a better man and a great son and a productive citizen . My mother is older now and she visits me when she can-my siblings and extended family support me. I have a wonderful support with the friends that I have known for years that keep in touch.
Please sign my petition and allow me the opportunity to live the remaining part of my life being a good and productive citizen. To be free and spend the last days with my mother would be the greatest gift. I am a good man one that doesn't take life for granted.
Thank you for supporting me.
