Hi everyone, I would like to talk about a silent pandemic that's happening right under our noses. You can drive through any part of Gauteng and witness the vast amount of stray dogs or colonies of cats. The shelters all across the board are full and struggling to stay afloat with the influx of animals being brought in. One of the biggest problems for me is that because of the act below, even if people wanted to decrease the amount of animals in shelters and/ or help strays, it would be near impossible to find a home to shelter these animals in because most if not all properties allow a maximum of 2 pets. This indeed becomes a circulating problem as more people get rid of their animals in order to find a property and then again we are back to square one with shelters and strays increasing. 

Please I am pleading with government to change it's rules to allow 4 pets in a dwelling unit or for complexes to change their conduct of rules. 

If we don't change this, the problem will just become a cycle, increasing the original problem ten fold. 

Please can we consider the lives of animals just as we do for our own. They don't have a voice to plead their case but I do and I leave you with one question, where are they supposed to reside?

(1)Subject to the provisions of subsections (2), (3) and (4), no person may keep more than –(a)two dogs, or allow more than two dogs, over the age of six months to be kept in or at a dwelling unit;(b)four dogs, or allow more than four dogs, over the age of six months to be kept in or at premises containing one or two dwelling houses;(c)six dogs, or allow more than six dogs, over the age of six months to be kept on an agricultural property;
