Make the Aylmer Marina a smoke-free zone

Make the Aylmer Marina a smoke-free zone
The Issue
The Aylmer Marina (Des Cèdres park) had always been a nice, calm, and family-friendly place where people could enjoy the beach, rent boats, relax with friends, etc. Over the last years, as it became more popular, it has become almost impossible to walk on the beach without inhaling second-hand smoke and cannabis. Cigarette stubs and beer bottle caps now litter the sand.
Second-hand smoking is a very real and serious health concern, as it is known and proven that it can greatly increase the risks of developing lung cancer and cardiovascular disease, trigger asthma attacks in children, and sudden infant death syndrome in babies. Many Gatineau citizens, such as I, come regularly to the marina, and it has become increasingly hard to find an area that doesn't smell like cannabis or tobacco. The aim of this petition is to impose stricter drug-consumption regulations in the marina of Aylmer and raise awareness to make the park a smoke-free and cleaner zone, for the sake of its visitors' health, comfort, and the preservation of this beautiful part of the city's heritage.
